Candice Pillay has put in more hours than most. Fought for her shot at living of music. Born and raised in the small town of Pietermaritzburg in South Africa her journey to Los Angeles wasn't an easy one, but her undeniable talent and determination paved the way. Pillay is already an accomplished songwriter, having worked with artists such as Christina Aguilera, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Rihanna and many more. At Dynaudio Unheard, she played a stripped down version of Cockiness - a song she wrote for Rihanna.

Our touring studio headed to the glamorous French Riviera, where it took pride of place at the Midem music industry festival in Cannes, June 4th – June 7th.

We welcomed artists such as Alexander Oscar, Candice Pillay, Kyan and Vegedream, and had a surprise visit from the French Minister of Culture.

It was easy to see that Alexander Oscar felt right at home in our Dynaudio Unheard studio: his smile, joking with his band, how he interacted with the audience.

But, performing hasn't always come easily to him, suffering from stage fright in the early days of his career. "I just put myself in situations where I had to perform. Shaking legs, breaking voice and all," Alexander said after his performance. "It was difficult, but I had to overcome my stage fright to pursue my passion."

Today there were no shaking legs nor breaking voice - Just tons of enthusiasm and a great pop sound with a grown-up twist.

The Dynaudio Unheard has went to the Midem music industry festival in Cannes in search of big new talent. And wow… did we find some.

Anyone who’s anyone in the music business goes to the Midem festival. It’s a must-attend event for the suits to do deals, for the start-ups to find new customers, and for the best new talent to find new fans.

We worked with the festival’s Artist Accelerator programme – where up-and-coming talent performs in front of hordes of chequebook-wielding decision-makers at the amazing Midem Beach stage (and we mean amazing; ever seen a stage flanked by superyachts? This is that) – to bring artists into the Dynaudio Unheard studio.

We had reggaeton, jazz, art-rock, sex-positive activism, sun-kissed acoustic vibes, on-the-fly-songwriting masterclass and much more. Above all, we had talent. Massive amounts of talent. If anyone ever says the music industry is in trouble, or that there isn’t enough variety, just send them to the Dynaudio Unheard studio (or our YouTube page) to swiftly change their mind.

Music never rests. We’re happy about that, because we’ll be back in Denmark at Smukfest 2019… and we can’t wait.

Dynaudio Unheard is a state-of-the-art touring recording studio travelling in search of the best undiscovered talent … and finding plenty of it.

The annual Midem music industry conference in Cannes is an essential for anyone in the business – whether they’re sitting behind a computer keyboard or an eight-octave one. It’s a place where breakthrough artists go to meet the people who can make them megastars.

But to get heard, you need to record something. And for many artists that’s where the story ends – they simply don’t have the money or the contacts to take that first step.

That’s where the Dynaudio Unheard studio comes in. Artists can use it free of charge to record a live session, then take away their recording and a music video to use wherever and however they want. No catch.

How does Dynaudio make money from this? We don’t. This is all about the artists. We’ve been making speakers for people to enjoy music with for more than 40 years – and we want to give something back to the industry.

Our touring studio has travelled to the Côte d'Azur for the music industry’s most influential event – a place where careers are made.

Midem, in Cannes, is the leading international event for the music business. It’s a place where deals are struck, technology is showcased, big-breaks are granted… and, most crucially, music is celebrated.

It’s about much more than suits. Like Dynaudio Unheard, Midem makes artists a priority through its Artist Hub; Midem Beach showcase stage; masterclasses, panels and workshops; and Artist Accelerator and Songwriting Camp.
