Welcome to Dynaudio Custom Install.
We have teamed up with Nick
from Boca Theater & Automation
to demonstrate how simple,
quick and painless it is
to go from blank dry wall
to incredible audio.
All right, so Nick,
this is a pretty easy process.
You said there's three main steps
to installing these speakers,
so let's walk through
what those three steps are.
It is a heartfelt process.
We're gonna go through
construction, installation
and then finally set-up
and tuning calibration.
All right. Let's talk about construction.
What could any technician expect
when pulling up to a client's home?
Well, construction is where we're gonna
incorporate all of our planning.
We've figured out the size of the room and
where we might want to put the speakers.
I like to keep our speakers
the front, left, right and center,
but spaced far apart
so that we can get a better stereo imaging.
A lot of times, we may have a
pre-planned position of the speakers
and we'll put the wires right
where they're supposed to go.
Then we'll cut out the drywall.
We'll make the space behind the speaker
for the speaker
to fit into the installation.
That's when we
move into the installation portion.
So what does that process look like?
I want to make sure that
my template's level
and that the finished product is
centered and leveled.
We're just gonna make sure that we have the
speaker tabs pulled tight to the drywall.
The frame of the speaker's
gonna be flush with the drywall
and then when we hear those six clicks,
or sometimes in a round installation,
we may only have four.
Round speakers are incredible also.
That sounds pretty easy.
I think probably one of the most
important things then is sound.
Tell me about how you make sure
that that sound sounds perfect.
It's the tuning and the calibration.
That is
the most fun part of the installation.
That's when we get to hear all the audio
and we're gonna want to
make sure that they all have a balance
with the sound pressure meter.
We want to make sure that the center
speaker is louder than the sides.
The sides are there just to
give a little bit of accent.
In this room in particular,
we had a little bit of a challenge
where those seats are
all against the back row...
- Right
- And so we positioned the speakers
on the side to face the back
and just aim down a little bit,
so that we can
shoot the audio at the sweet spot.
And how do you direct sound
in a room like this?
One of the nice things
about the round speaker,
they have a little bit of a bevel inside
that you can swivel the speaker
to face the listening position
and then, you'll also be able to
tune the tweeter
and give it just a little bit of aim to
add that an extra punch.
So, these are
the best seats in the house?
These are the sweet spots.
This is where you want to hear the music
and when you listen to that orchestra,
you see the image on the screen,
but you fell and it makes the hair
on your arms stand up when you
feel all the speakers work together
incorporated in your room.
I love it. I want to watch a movie in this
room with you so I can hear that sound.
I can't wait.
I wish we could get some popcorn.
Well, we'll do that. Thank you Nick.
